What to Expect when Jumping for the First Time

The Classroom: To experience the thrill of the first jump at Adventure Skydiving Georgia, you must first complete a ground school. There are two types of ground school. The TANDEM ground training requiring just 15 minutes of training. The AFF Accelerated Free Fall method (this is the jump where you are not attached to an instructor) which requires 4 to 6 hours of training. The ground school utilizes video and practical training techniques that will prepare you for all aspects of your first jump (It can also be a lot of fun!). We cover topics such as equipment, aircraft exit, proper body positions, steering and landing the parachute. There's also a segment on "unusual situations" which covers what you must do in the (unlikely) event that something goes wrong! The course will not only prepare you, but also increase your confidence as you go to the extreme!

The Equipment: After your course, you'll don your jumpsuit, goggles, helmet and radio, and your student parachute system. Our student parachutes consist of both a square ("ram-air") main parachute as well as a reserve ("emergency") parachute that is equipped with an automatic activation device. Everything will be adjusted and checked by your USPA-certified instructors. Learning to skydive

The Jump:You will be taken up in our TURBINE skydiving aircraft to an altitude of 14000' and it is at this point that you will climb out of the aircraft with your instructor. Once outside the aircraft, you are ready to go! As you fall away from the aircraft, the instructors will assist you during your freefall and under parachute.

After your parachute has opened, you will be directed via a one-way radio that is mounted on your harness. The ground controller will assist you back to the landing area, where a feather soft landing is possible with our fully-stearable Ram air canopies.

After Your Jump: After your jump, your can relax in our skydive training facility, celebrate your jump with friends, do another jump, or chat with our welcoming staff..

Group of skydiversTo complete your first jump, you must attend a debriefing. All skydives, from the first jump are debriefed so that progression and development of skills can be maximized.

As most people enjoy the video footage, we have made a video package available for purchase which includes photographs of the first jump!
